特斯拉今年应对拥堵的解决方案是提供免费的非高峰期充电。这项交易只在美国约 1400 个特斯拉超级充电站中的 75 个超级充电点提供。大多数符合条件的充电站都集中在加州，2021年4月至6月期间，加州的特斯拉注册量占美国所有特斯拉注册量的一半以上。该州的超级充电站经常排长队，等待时间可能超过两小时。

在东海岸，只有宾夕法尼亚州的三个站点符合条件，位于通往纽约市的近200英里的路线上。使用这条路线的司机经常从匹兹堡、哥伦布、辛辛那提等地赶来--冲击这些"较慢的"V2充电站。
